New EU Maximum Levels for Contaminants in Foods: Aflatoxins, Metals, and More

The European Commission has set new maximum levels (MLs) for certain contaminants in food.

The new MLs are effective as of April 25, 2023. MLs for each contaminant in certain foods are laid out in Annex I of European Commission Regulation 2023/915, which replaces Regulation 1881/2006.

The regulation covers contaminants like:

The unprocessed whole, ground, milled, cracked, chopped linseed with the warning message has to comply with the maximum level provided for in 2.3.1.

Pyrrolizidine alkaloids, which can be individually and separately identified with the used method of analysis, shall be quantified and included in the sum.
